After slamming into a police vehicle, a 13-year-old boy was fatally shot by police in Texas.

At around 1 a.m., on Friday morning, officers responded to a call of multiple gunshots. This was in the 5100 block of War Cloud, the San Antonio Police Department stated.

Officers found the suspect vehicle that had been reported stolen. They initially tried to pull the vehicle over. However, the driver quickly drove backwards, in the direction of a San Antonio Police Department patrol car, and ran into it.

An officer, who worried that another officer may get injured, fired at the vehicle and shot the driver, 13.

The teen received medical attention at the location and was transported to a medical facility after being shot in the stomach. He later succumbed to his injuries.

There were two other juveniles in the car, but they weren’t hurt.

The unnamed officer has been placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues.
