Texas Man Sentenced To 8 Years In Federal Prison For Selling Gun To Man Who Held Hostages Inside Of Synagogue
33-year-old Henry “Michael” Dwight Williams, a man who sold a firearm to another man who utilized it to hold four hostages, has been given a 8-year federal prison sentence. The incident occurred inside of Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas, before Malik Faisal Akram, 44, was shot and killed by the FBI.
Akram held the four people hostage for 10 hours last January. The hostages were eventually rescued, and Akram was fatally shot.
On Jan.13, Akram had purchased a semiautomatic Taurus G2C pistol. Plea documents show that Williams confessed to having the weapon, at one point.
The FBI was able to locate cellphone records linking Williams to Akram. The two had talked multiple times from Jan. 11 to Jan. 13, the U.S. attorney’s office stated.
After he was in custody for an outstanding warrant, in January, Williams disclosed to detectives that Akram had bought the gun from him in South Dallas.
In June, Williams pleaded guilty to the charge. On Monday, he was given his sentence. He had been previously been convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and attempted possession of a controlled substance.
