A man from Texas was apprehended in Illinois after authorities discovered suspected cocaine in a Wendy’s cheeseburger as a routine traffic stop took place.
On Nov. 5, deputies were in the area close to the Road Ranger Travel Center on State Route 148 near 1-57.
Deputies got to the parking lot of the travel center and saw a man standing close to a car parked at the fuel pumps. The car had a Texas registration plate.
Officials say that the man tried to hide by ducking his body and was acting anxious.
Another male left the store and made contact with the man who was close to the car. Both of the men exited the vehicle, and the suspicious man sat on the passenger side while the other man entered the driver’s seat.
The car then pulled ahead and parked in a parking spot.
The passenger exited the vehicle and checked to ensure that the turn signals, brake lights, and registration plate light were all operable. Afterwards, they left and headed west on State Route 148.
A few minutes later, the vehicle made a U-turn in the middle of the road which made deputies stop in the roadway.
The vehicle then stopped, and the passenger walked to the marked patrol vehicle.
Jesus Garza Trevino was named as the passenger and told deputies that he had come from Laredo, Texas, and was headed to Indiana. However, he couldn’t give an address to where he was going or who he was going to see.
A K-9 unit was then brought to the scene, and it hinted to the presence of narcotics.
When deputies searched the car, a brown glove containing a white powdery substance was found. It tested positive for cocaine.
After looking further, authorities unwrapped a cheeseburger that was inside of a Wendy’s bag. There, another object covered in black tape was found. It tested positive for cocaine, as well.
Authorities say that the cocaine weighed close to two ounces, and it was confiscated.
Trevino has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, controlled substance trafficking, and delivery of a controlled substance. He is being held in the Williamson County Jail.
Dumbass.
