On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, a man from Wise County, Texas, was taken into custody after showing authorities where he had hidden the bodies of his wife and daughter. The remains were discovered in his garage where they had been for months.
Authorities say that after a brother-in-law told them that he hadn’t seen his sister-in-law for many months, Robert Moriarty was arrested.
On June 12, the brother-in-law showed deputies a home on County Road 4371, close to Decatur, Texas. However, when authorities arrived to the residence, it was abandoned. On Tuesday, Moriarty was located in Dallas with his two youngest children, ages 3 & 10.
After first, Moriarty told authorities that he hadn’t seen his wife or 11-year-old daughter in six months. Eventually though, he confessed that they were dead and still inside of the garage at his Decatur residence.
Subsequently the bodies of Kimberly Kellam, 42, and the unidentified 11-year-old daughter were sent to a medical examiner’s office.
At this time, a motive for the killing is unknown.
Moriarty is facing two counts of murder and tampering with a deceased body. His bond was placed at $800,000.
