Ethan Couch, 22, was booked into jail in Fort Worth after testing positive for THC, the psychoactive compound found in marijuana. He’s known for using “affluenza” as a defense at his trial for killing four people while driving drunk.
Couch was arrested Thursday. Police say he violated the terms of his probation. Jail records have not revealed whether a bond had been set Thursday afternoon.
Couch’s attorneys say he has been closely monitored for alcohol and illegal drugs for 20 months. They say, “..he has never been positive for the use of substance abuse before. “
The attorneys have not had a chance to conduct an investigation into whether Couch ingested THC. If he did, they want to know if it was done willingly.
Couch was first served with 10 -years probation. After violating that probation, he was jailed and released in 2018 after serving a nearly two- year sentence.
