Teen Suspended for Cutting Hair In School Bathroom, Receives Apprenticeship Opportunity From City’s Top Barber

Cameron Tucker, a 16 year-old from Detroit, became interested in cutting hair this summer after performing a haircut on his cousin and cutting his own hair to save money.

Then, Cameron started excelling at the skill. He began posting before and after photos of his cousins’ and football teammates’ hair.

However, last Thursday, Cameron was caught by a teacher cutting a peer’s hair in a bathroom, at Renaissance High School, during study hall.

“We need someone to come get Cameron. He’s running a barbershop…There’s a line in there…He’s got the whole setup in there like the movie ‘Barbershop,'” a message to his mother stated.

Although the administrators were impressed with his entrepreneurship, Cameron was suspended for one day. He was then connected with one of the top barbers in his town who is helping him perfect his craft.

After the suspension, Cameron went back to school, just without his clippers.
