Protests rang out over the weekend, in Kansas City, when a 16 year old black boy was shot in the head after going to the wrong house to pick up his brothers.

On April 13, officers responded to a shooting call near the residence of N.E. 115th Street. When they arrived they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head and arm.

The teen, later identified as Ralph Yarl, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

While investigating detectives learned that Yarl was picking up his younger brothers from a friends home.

The friends home was on N.E. 115th Terrace and Yarl accidentally went to N.E. 115th Street. When he rang the doorbell the homeowner opened the door and shot the teen twice.

The teen ran to three residences before someone actually called for help.

Authorities took the homeowner into custody for questioning but he was later released. At this time the suspect, Andrew Lester, has been charged with first degree assault and armed criminal action.

In a statement released by the victims attorneys they are demanding “swift action from Clay County prosecutors and law enforcement to identify, arrest and prosecute to the full extent of the law the man responsible for this horrendous and unjustifiable shooting.”
