On Friday, Gavin Seymour was giving a 40-year sentence in prison. Prior to this, the teen had pleaded guilty to second- degree murder in the arson attack that turned deadly in Truckee Street in the Denver community of Green valley Ranch.
On Aug. 5, 2020, the house fire claimed the lives of Djibril Diol, his wife Adja, their toddler Hassan Diol, and their baby daughter, Hawa Beye. They were all from Senegal. Three people were able to get away from the home by jumping out of windows.
Reports has indicated that the reason for the arson attack was because of revenge over something that has been taken from another one of the killers, Kevin Bui. However, Bui hasn’t been tried in the matter but is expected to be arraigned on March 21.
Bui has been charged with first-degree murder and multiple other possible charges. Prosecutors say that he confessed that he was looking for revenge for a cell phone that was stolen from him, which he had tracked with an app to the wrong residence. He has actually gone to the house on Truckee Street or the victims weren’t linked to the stolen cell phone or Bui.
Detectives say that prior to setting the home ablaze, the three suspects, who were dressed in masks and hoodies, broke into the residence and spread gasoline.
They last suspect, Dylan Siebert was 14 back then and was tried in juvenile court.
Siebert was later sentenced to seven years in district court and three more in juvenile court as a youth offender, following a guilty plea of a second-degree murder charge.
