4kviews

A Tarrant County inmate has been charged with murder after authorities say she punched a pregnant hospital staff member in the stomach, causing the employee to miscarry.

39-year-old Cheri Akil, an inmate in Tarrant County, was at JPS hospital in Fort Worth last Wednesday receiving treatment after suicidal allegations.

According to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, the pregnant hospital staff worker was standing near the inmate while she was getting put in restraints.

Akil, who was jailed on possession, DWI, and fraud charges, managed to punch the pregnant worker in the stomach, sending the woman and her unborn child to the JPS trauma unit.

A sonogram determined that the baby no longer had a pulse and Akil was subsequently charged with murder.
