T-Mobile has settled a lawsuit, agreeing to pay $350 million to customers who were affected by a data breach.
Nearly 80 million people were victims of having their information stolen by hackers through T-Mobile. The hackers gathered Social Security numbers, driver’s license information, and other identification information from T-Mobile’s database.
The $350 million will be paid by T-Mobile to its customers that were affected. The money will go towards the claims by class members and also any legal fees to the counsel.
The company will also spend $150 million to strengthen its data security, however, T-Mobile says the settlement does not admit any liability or wrongdoing on their behalf.
The terms of the settlement should be approved in court at the start of the new year.
