Late Friday, a gunman fatally shot five people, including an 8-year-old, subsequent to neighbors requesting that he stop shooting his AR-15 firearm in his yard. The incident occurred in Cleveland, Texas.

On Tuesday evening, close to 7 p.m., 38-year-old Francisco Oropesa was arrested by law enforcement officials in Cut and Shoot which is a community not too far from Cleveland.  They had been searching for him since the killings.

Around 11:31 p.m. on Friday, authorities had gotten a call about harassment. However, when they arrived on the scene, they discovered multiple people who had been shot.

Three of the people who had been shot were females and two were males, including an 8-year-old boy.

Two females that were found had been in a bedroom, on top of two children who had survived.

Three minors were found unharmed but were covered in blood. They were taken to a local medical facility.

Friday night’s shooting is the most recent act of gun violence in the U.S. involving mass shootings and semiautomatic rifles. However, Republican leaders in Texas have consistently opposed new firearm restrictions.

Oropesa has been charged with five counts of murder. He is currently in the Montgomery County Jail until he is transported to the San Jacinto County Jail where is bond will be $5 million.
