A man arrested in connection with a shooting on Sunday night in Pleasant Grove briefly escaped from Dallas police custody by walking out the front entrance of the police headquarters.
Authorities took 26-year-old Josue Aguilar Murillo into custody after a domestic dispute led to the shooting, which happened on April 6 at the 3200 block of Fort Bend Drive. He was brought to the third floor of the Jack Evans Police Headquarters for questioning by detectives.
Investigators believe Murillo shot his roommate twice outside their home during an argument. The victim has been taken to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition.
According to police reports, Murillo was left alone in an unlocked interview room. Seizing the opportunity, he walked out, made his way downstairs, and exited the building through the main door. Security footage captured him leaving the premises past the security personnel at 12:18 a.m. on Monday.
About four hours later, Dallas officers spotted a man with blood on his white shoes and handcuff markings on his wrists, matching Murillo’s description, as he walked along Scyene Road near the location of the initial shooting. Murillo was ultimately found and re-arrested near the original crime scene in Pleasant Grove. He now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, as well as escape while in custody.
