Chili supply interruptions are continuing to put a dent in production of sriracha sauce, causing problems for manufactures for two years in a row.

As droughts in Mexico have ruined important pepper crops, Huy Fong Foods, Inc, the U.S’.s leading sriracha sauce manufacturer, is having problems keeping up with demand in order to provide retail and grocery stores with the bottles of sriracha sauce.

Thus, it is leading to e- commerce sites like e-Bay and Amazon to greatly mark the prices up on the sauce.

On e-Bay, a two pack 28 oz. bottle could cost as much as $71.99. Additionally, one seller on Amazon listed a 17-ounce two pack for $124.99 That garnered 7,000 views, alone, last month.

Sriracha sauce is made from sun-ripened red jalapeno-hybrid chili peppers. Huy Fong Foods is widely-known for brining the sauce to the American market. They have accredited the shortage to “unprecedented inventory” with a reducing number in “raw materials.”
