A Maryland student was shot and killed Tuesday morning by school resource officer after walking into the school and shooting two students.
The incident began around 7:55am at Great Mills High School just before class, when Austin Wyatt Rollins walked into his school with a handgun and shot a 16 year old female victim and a 14 year old male victim in the hallway.
Authorities say they believe the shooter and female victim had a prior relationship. The female victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition with life threatening injuries and the male victim is said to be in stable condition.
The SR Officer Blaine Gaskill responded quickly to the scene firing a single shot at Rollins. The gunman fired back before being struck and killed. The school went on lockdown and kids were transferred to a reunification center nearby.
