South Dallas’ Own 11-Year-Old Actor Stars On Disney’s “Secrets Of Sulphur Springs”

11-year-old Johari Washington is a young boy from South Dallas. He is also a student and an actor.

Johari has shared his excitement as he has a role in season two of Disney’s “Secrets of Sulphur Springs.”

“I’m on Disney now. People, some of them recognize me more. Even little kids at my school are saying, “Can I get your autograph?”

Washington plays the character, Topher in the show that is filled with action. It is about some kids who locate a secret portal that permits them to travel back to the past. While doing so, they come up against ghosts and attempt to use hints to find a missing girl.

Washington described Topher as someone who acts bravely but is really scared on the inside.

At 3 years-old, Washington’s mom, Tanja Hoard-Washington, who died of breast cancer, placed him in commercials, on stage, and on the small screen. He says she continues to inspire him.

He added that his faith and his family, including his father, Darron, have ensured that he continues to move in the direction of  his goals.

Washington attends Kingdom Collegiate Academy in Desoto. He loves gaming and even has some athletic capabilities.

His show can be viewed every Friday night on the Disney channel. Season two can also be watched on Disney +.

“Secrets of Sulphur Springs” has been renewed for a third season.
