William Waybourn, the son of Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn, was arrested in Arlington on Monday evening.
Arlington Police received a 911 call at approximately 4:45 p.m. from an underage girl who reported that a man had been making inappropriate sexual comments toward her and following her inside a business on the 100 block of S. Bowen Road. The girl provided a detailed description of the suspect, enabling officers to locate an individual fitting that description along Bowen Rd.
When approached by officers, Waybourn, 20, became agitated and resisted arrest as they attempted to detain him and place him in a police vehicle. During the confrontation, one officer sustained an injury.
As a result of the investigation, Waybourn was arrested and booked at the Arlington Jail on charges including Solicitation of a Person Under 18, Resisting Arrest, and Assault on a Peace Officer. Records show he posted bail the following morning.
On Tuesday, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office released a statement expressing Sheriff Waybourn’s disappointment regarding his son’s behavior, emphasizing that he has always taught his children about understanding the consequences of their actions.
The case will be handled by Arlington PD and forwarded to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.
