On Sunday, a man was charged with killing his father inside of the apartment that they lived in, authorities say.
40-year-old John Darnell Lee has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action for the killing of 65-year-old John Whitney, his father.
Police in Hazelwood, Missouri, said that they responded to a call about a shooting at a complex in the 7500 block of Hazelcrest Drive.
Authorities located Whitney in his apartment with a gunshot wound. He was able to talk and told detectives that he had been walking his dog when someone he didn’t know shot him.
Whitney was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his wounds on Sunday.
A woman who saw the shooting happen later told police that Lee had shot his dad, documents noted.
In an interview with police, Lee confessed to the shooting.
His bail was denied.
