Feron Hunt, an SMU basketball player who hails from Desoto, is one of Dallas’s vast number of rookies this year. On Friday, he became apart of the Maverick’s undrafted free agent signings.

Hunt has declared for the draft three times before. He bypassed his last two years of eligibility at SMU, averaging 11.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game this season. He had gone back to school two of times; however, his new agent stopped him from going back this time.

“I showed in college that I would be an excellent role player in the NBA,” Hunt said in an interview in March.

Others who will be joining the Mavericks include Shawnee State’s Ej Onu, Louisville’s Carlik Jones, and Oregon’s Eugene Omoruyi.
