Six People Charged In $3 Million Auto Theft Ring After Boasting On Social Media

4.3kviews

An auto theft ring was broken up in the Bronx, New York, after thieves stole cars and boasted about it on social media.

Authorities say that a group of six people are the reason for massive thefts of stolen property valued at more than $3 million. They targeted ATMs, car dealerships, and cell phone stores. The group is said to have stolen 54 vehicles.

Willie Baines, Josepher Cartagena, Brandon Collazo-Rivera, Justin Herrera, Douglas Noble, and Alexander Santiago have been named in the ring.

They are accused of stealing cars off the lots at closed dealerships by breaking the windows. Sometimes they would go into the dealerships and drive vehicles right through the glass windows of the showroom floor.

However, their biggest mistake was posting the property that they stole on social media. The group had been flashing money and even taking pictures next to the stolen cars.

After an investigation took place for 13 months, they was finally caught.

Ultimately, four people in the group pled guilty to second-degree grand larceny as the other two pled guilty to third-degree burglary.
