Six Dead Cows, Found With Their Tongues Cut Out, Discovered Along Highway In Various Texas Counties

Authorities announced this week that six mutilated cows were discovered in various counties, near a highway in Texas.

An investigation into the death of a 6-year-old cow led to a review of five other incidences, close to College Station to Madison and Brazos and Robertson counties. Other mutilations have been seen across the country, and agencies are working together to investigate.

The 6-year-old cow was discovered with a “straight, clean cut, with apparent precision,” taking off the hide around one side of the animal’s mouth, officials say. The tongue was also missing, but there wasn’t a presence of blood spill. The sheriff’s office noted that ranchers hadn’t seen any signs of predators or birds who had tried to consume the remains.

PETA is now planning to get involved, and an investigation is ongoing.
