Iconic Singer and Songwriter of numerous American classics, Tony Bennett, has died.
Bennett’s publicist noted that he died at his residence in New York City on Friday. Although Bennett suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, his cause of death hasn’t been revealed.
Bennett gained many fans with hits like, “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” in 1962. His career lasted over 70 years, and he released over 70 albums and earned 19 Grammys.
In 2021, Bennett’s last public appearance was with Lady Gaga, an admirer, at the Radio City Music Hall. This was two months prior to his last release, the Bennett-Gaga set, “Love For Sale,” a follow-up to their extraordinary collaboration “Cheek to Cheek” in 2014.
That album allowed him to break his own record as the oldest living performer that had a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. Bennett was 88 years old then.
Even though Bennett had health issues, he still recorded and performed until 2021.
Bennett was 96.
