Viviane de Queiroz Pereia, also known as Pocah, is a Brazilian singer who had to be hospitalized. This is because she held her gas in over an extended period of time.
Pocah reported that she was too embarrassed to pass gas in front of her boyfriend. She began to experience health problems because she “trapped her farts.”
On Instagram, the 27-year-old described what she went through with her 15.7 million followers. It has since been deleted.
“I’m now fine. Just an accumulation of trapped farts. Girls, don’t be ashamed to fart in front of your guy. Because what’s really embarrassing is not letting your guy sleep because you’re in discomfort…For now on, I’m letting it rip, guys. I’m medicated, and I’m fine,” Pocah noted.
She added that she had watched videos on TikTok about ignoring any pain caused by not releasing gas. At a certain point, she couldn’t deal with the discomfort.
Studies show that holding in gas can cause bloating, burping, discomfort, and swelling. Also, diverticulitis could occur which is when “bulging pouches can form in the lining of the digestive system.”
