This week, 23-year-old Sha’Carri Richardson ran one of the fastest women’s 100m of 2023.
On Thursday, July 6, Richardson was featured at the United States Championships in Eugene, Oregon. She ran 10.71 seconds in the opening heat of the 100m dash, resulting in a .25 lead to second-place runner Brittany Brown.
Afterwards, on Friday evening, Richardson picked up her first U.S. title. Right after the semi-finals, where she won in her heat with a time of 10.75 seconds, Richardson won in 10.82 seconds in the finals.
The accomplishment means that Sha’Carri will be a part of the World Championships in Budapest in August.
