Sha’Carri Richardson’s name has not been listed to the U.S. relay team and she will not be competing in the Tokyo Olympics following her positive test result for marijuana.
According to reports Tuesday, Sha’Carri Richardson,21 was not added to the 4×100 relay team.
Richardson recently tested positive for marijuana after winning the 100 meter dash at the Olympic trials, in Eugene Ohio.
She then accepted a 30 day suspension that would be removed days before the actual relay race.
USATF released a statement Tuesday saying, “All USATF athletes are equally aware of and must adhere to the current anti-doping code, and our credibility as the National Governing Body would be lost if rules were only enforced under certain circumstances.
Richardson recently lost her biological mother and said she used marijuana as a coping mechanism.
USATF praised Richardson for owning up to her actions and agrees that the World Anti-Doping Agency’s guidelines need a makeover
