The 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held in Paris, and Team USA is hoping that people will donate to the country’s top athletes. However, American track and field star Sha’Carri Richardson has warned that the money donated doesn’t assist in supporting the athletes in any way.

On Nov. 24, an Instagram ad for the Team USA Fund stated, “100% of Donations to the Team USA Fund goes to athletes and the high performance programming that supports them.”

Richardson then posted to her story this week and said, “Do not donate. The athletes that need this money don’t see it.”

After these claims, more people remarked in the comment section, concerned about where the funds actually go.

“I heard they don’t get retirement, and these funds don’t got to athletes, but the executive gets paid BIG BUCKS. Look it up,” one comment read. “Big cap. The athletes don’t see one penny of these funds,” someone else wrote.

Despite this, Richardson is gearing up for a second chance in Paris. At the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, she won gold in the 100m, bronze in the 200m, and won first place in the women’s 4 x 100m relay team.
