Sha’Carri Richardson To Have Dallas ISD Track Field Named In Her Honor

The fastest woman in the world, Sha’Carri Richardson, will be honored by having a track field named after her.

On Thursday evening, Dallas ISD’s Board of Trustees decided through a vote to name the John Kincade Stadium’s track field after the historymaker.

While Richardson, 23, was a student at Carter High School, in Dallas, she ran on the field. Following that, Richardson ran for the LSU Lady Tigers’ track and field organization in 2018 and 2019.

The honor that Richardson is receiving is to celebrate her accomplishments in sports and her connection to Dallas.

Richardson became the fastest woman in the world in August after running the 100-meter in 10.65 seconds. This occured at the World Championships in Budapest. She defeated Jamaicans Shericka Jackson by .07 seconds and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce by .12.

Although Richardson had been the American Champion and had out run Jackson two previous times, she had been listed as a 5-1 underdog.

Now, Sha’Carri is preparing for the Paris Olympics which will take place in July of 2024.
