At least seven people have died after a portion of a cliff fell onto a leisure boat on a Brazilian lake on Saturday.
Thirty-two people were hurt, 9 were sent to hospitals, and three people are missing after the accident that occurred southeast of Brazil.
Video footage of the incident has been viewed thousands of times online. Viewers can see when the rock breaks from the cliff as people yell warnings to the boats underneath.
“That piece will fall out. Get out of there,” a woman is heard warning before the occurrence.
One boat is seen going underwater while others are able to get away. Three boats were struck.
By 11:00 local time, the area had already received a lot of rain in the Minas Gerais state. This made cliffs more likely to collapse, fire officials say.
Drivers and helicopters are looking in the lake for any survivors.
One woman, Alessandra Barbosa, is hoping her uncle is located. He was visiting the area and had taken a tour of the cliff by boat.
“I called local hospitals. So far I haven’t had any information about them. We are distressed, very concerned,” she said. “We are nervous because we have no information and its family, right? Family is everything to us.”
