Second Suspect Arrested In Fatal Shooting Of 18-Year-Old On Town East Blvd. In Mesquite

Authorities in Mesquite answered to a call regarding a shooting in the 3400 block of North Town East Boulevard, close to 11:30 p.m. on July 9. When they arrived to the scene, they located 18-year-old Kavontae Slate who had experienced a gunshot wound to the chest.

Slate was transported to a medical facility where he succumbed to his wounds.

On July 10, one suspect, Omarey Marshall, was apprehended at his residence. He is facing a Capital Murder charge.

Now, it has been learned that on Tuesday, July 16, another suspect, 22-year-old Christion James, of Rowlett, was arrested. He has been charged with Murder, as well.

The investigation is continuing.
