Search Halted For 9-Month-Old Boy Swept Away In Flash Flood

1.1kviews

On July 15, 2023, 9-month-old Conrad Sheils was swept away as a flash flood occurred in Upper Makefield Township, Pennsylvania.

On Wednesday, the search for him was called off.

For nearly two weeks, authorities used drones, boats, dogs, divers, sonar, and air assets to look for the young child. However, they were unsuccessful in finding him.

Conrad was one of seven individuals who died in the flash flood. His 32-year-old mother and his 2-year-old sister were also washed away and drowned. Their bodies were eventually found.

The mother and children had first gone missing as they were driving to a barbecue. Over seven inches of rain had fallen within 45 minutes. This led to the creek spilling its banks and creating a “wall of water.”

The mother died after she grabbed Conrad and his sister while attempting to get out of their car. However, they were swept away.

The children’s father and grandmother were able to get the couple’s 4-year-old son and get out of the vehicle. They survived.

In total, eleven cars were washed away, and four other people lost their lives in the Buck County flooding.
