On Monday, a school employee was carjacked outside of an elementary school in Burleson, Texas.
After a short police pursuit, 36-year-old Shad Allen King, of Austin, was apprehended and transported to the Mansfield jail.
Authorities say that the occurrence happened around 7:15 a.m. at North Joshua Elementary School on South Ranchway Drive.
King confronted one of the school workers, took their vehicle, and left the location. It isn’t clear if the suspect was armed, but no one was harmed in the incident.
When officers spotted the stolen car at Wilshire Boulevard and Elk Drive, they attempted to pull it over. However, King drove away, and the chase started.
The pursuit ended when King pulled into a driveway and tried to run. He was unsuccessful and caught by police.
Earlier that morning, a 911 call was placed after a delivery driver was almost robbed for his vehicle. That happened just down the street from the same elementary school.
The Tri-County Auto Theft Task Force is investigating the matter.
