School Bus Full of Pre-K Students is Fatally Struck on Texas Highway

Dozens were injured, two fatally when a concrete truck collided head-on with a school bus returning from a field trip to Bastrop Zoo.

At around 2 p.m. Friday, the school bus carrying 44 Tom Green Elementary pre-k students and 11 adults was struck while traveling on SH 21 near Caldwell Road.

According to officials, a concrete truck traveling in the opposite direction of the bus veered into its path and crashed, causing the bus to roll over. A man driving a Dodge Charger traveling behind the bus was killed in the crash.

Four people were transported via helicopter in critical condition and six others were transported to the hospital by ambulance.

A young boy that was on the bus and the driver of the Charger were pronounced deceased at the scene.

In total, 53 people were seen by medical personnel at the scene and assessed for treatment of their injuries.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has not confirmed if the driver of the concrete truck will face charges or not.
