San Antonio Police Officer Hits and Kills Pedestrian With His Patrol Car

A San Antonio police officer struck and killed a pedestrian with his patrol car on his way to a dispatched call.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the 6100 block of W Commerce Street and NW 39th Street.

According to police, a 64-year-old man wearing dark clothing was crossing the street and didn’t yield to traffic. The on-duty officer was responding to a call and didn’t see the pedestrian in the road way.

The officer struck the man and launched his body onto a grassy area with his patrol car. The officer then stopped his vehicle, notified 911 and went to help the man.

EMS arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The officer involved has been with the San Antonio police department for 2 years.
Neither of their identities have been released.
