Rudolph Isley, a member of the infamous singing group The Isley Brothers, passed away at 84.
It was reported that Rudolph passed away Wednesday morning inside his home. Although the cause of death is unclear it is said that he may have suffered a heart attack.
Rudolph created the group Isley Brothers with his brothers Ronald O’ Kelly and Vernon. His brother Vernon was killed by a vehicle at the age of 13 and his brothers then moved to New York and signed a record deal with RCA records.
Just a year later the group signed with Mowtown Records
They produced their first hits “Twist & Shout,” “This Old Heart of Mine,” and “It’s Your Thing” before adding their younger brothers Ernie and Marvin and then their brother in law Chris Jasper.
In 1989 Rudolph left the group and went on to become a Christian minister. He later rejoined the group and created more hits.
In 1992 the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and given their award by Little Richard.
Ronald Isley said in a statement, “There are no words to express my feelings and the love I have for my brother. Our family will miss him. But I know he’s in a better place.”
