Royal Caribbean has announced Friday they will began sail in the Bahamas starting in June. However, in order for adults to board, you have to be fully vaccinated.
The cruise line broke news about a series of 7-night cruises aboard the Adventure of the Seas that has been scheduled for this summer, setting sail from the cruise line’s new homeport of Nassau, Bahamas starting June 12.
All staff and crew members will be vaccinated for Covid-19, as well as passengers over the age of 18 will need to be as well. Those under the age of 18 must return back a negative test result, according to Royal Caribbean.
“We are excited to get back to delivering memorable vacations in the Caribbean, gradually and safely. The vaccines are clearly a game-changer for all of us, and with the number of vaccinations and their impact growing rapidly, we believe starting with cruises for vaccinated adult guests and crew is the right choice. As we move forward, we expect this requirement and other measures will inevitably evolve over time,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International.
Passengers can start booking a cruise as early as March 24.
The Center for Disease Control new cruising guidelines states that in order to continue carrying passenger, the companies have to demonstrate they have proper procedures for testing along with quarantining and isolating passengers and crew.
They will have to form test labs on all cruise ships and make their own arrangements to isolate or quarantine passengers on shore if necessary before they are allowed to take sail. They will have to perform mock voyages with volunteers acting ass passengers who fall ill, according to the CDC.
