Rockwall Police Officer Dies From COVID-19

A Rockwall police officer died in the hospital from COVID-19 Monday morning.
Tracey Gaines has been with the department since 2005 and most recently as a school resource officer at Rockwall High School.
Gaines was hospitalized on July 11 and most likely contracted the virus at a home gathering. His entire family also tested positive for COVID-19, but no one else had to be hospitalized.
Rockwall PD placed a squad car at the Wilkerson Sanders Memorial Stadium as a memorial Monday for officer Gaines and people drove by and placed balloons, flowers and posters there in memory of him.
