Robert Flaxman, The Real Estate Developer Involved In The College Admissions Scandal, Dies By Suicide

Robert Flaxman, one of numerous people charged in the college admissions scandal with Lori Laughlin and Felicity Huffman, has died by suicide.

Authorities say that Flaxman’s friends had contacted them in regards to a welfare check last week at his residence in Malibu, California. Police then discovered that he had hanged himself.

Reports indicate that the coroner has documented the case as closed, naming the manner of death as suicide. There was no letter that was left behind, but investigators say that Flaxman had a history of depression.

Back in 2019, the real estate developer was charged, along with 49 other people, in the huge college admissions scandal. This is where they paid a great amount of money to get their children into top-tier institutions throughout the country.

Flaxman pleaded guilty and was given a month in jail and a year of supervised release. He was also made to complete 250 hours of community service and fined $50,000.

Flaxman was 66.
