The Richardson Police Department is investigating a potential hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a man over the weekend.
57-year-old Omar Hammet, from Huntsville, was found deceased around 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning. His body was lying in the lanes of traffic along the S. Central Expressway near Spring Valley Road.
Initially, investigators did not have a suspect vehicle description but were certain that Hammet was the victim of a hit-and-run.
During the investigation, however, it was determined that a white SUV fatally struck the 57-year-old. The make and model of the vehicle has not been provided, however, authorities say there will be damage to the right front bumper, fender, and headlight.
Anyone who was traveling on U.S. 75 through Richardson around 2 a.m. Sunday and witnessed the fatal incident is urged to contact RPD.
