Putin Fired 1,000 Personal Staffers, Believing They May Poison Him

In February, Russian President Vladimir Putin fired 1,000 personal staffers. This was because he thought they may poison him, reports say.

On Wednesday, a Russian government source revealed that those who were replaced include cooks, launderers, bodyguards, and secretaries.

In February, US and Western officials had been on alert. They noted that Russia was planning to invade Ukraine. This came after troops were observed surrounding the border that the two countries share.

Many world leaders opposed Russia’s war against Ukraine. Therefore, officials have said that possibly executing an assassination of Putin “is on every intelligence agency’s design table.”

Even South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham has expressed his desire for Putin to be assassinated.

“The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out. You would be doing your country-and the world-a great service,” Graham tweeted in March.

If Putin was to be assassinated, it would be the job for the Russians not other countries.

“The attempt will be from within the Kremlin. Russian intelligence is likely the only one left that deploys poison as a default to assassinate people,” experts say.
