James Allen Jones, Jr., 51, was apprehended at his place of employment at the California Men’s Colony on Tuesday.
Jones was taken in for allegedly attacking a Wells Fargo branch manager while spewing out a racial slur. The victim is Hispanic and Jones is Caucasian. Jones was upset because it was requested that he wear a mask in the bank.
After causing a scene in the lobby of the bank, the attacker returned to the branch later and fought with the manager. He then left the location before authorities could get on the scene.
After speaking with witnesses and reviewing surveillance videos, Jones was identified.
A search of Jones’s home was conducted. He now faces charges of committing a hate crime, making criminal threats, and battery with serious bodily injury.
He has been released from custody after posting $50,000 bail and has been put on administrative leave.
