After pressure from his own party has been felt, President Joe Biden has halted his reelection bid and won’t be in the 2024 Presidential race any longer.
On Sunday, Biden issued the announcement through a statement that was posted on X.
In it, he discussed his achievements such as bringing the economy back to life, lessening the costs of prescription drugs, gun safety laws, and others.
Biden also expressed his gratitude to the American people for working together to build up a stronger country. He added that he will address the nation publicly, later on this week.
Many top Democrats, including celebrities, had called for Biden to drop out of the race, following his debate performance last month, citing his age and mental capabilities. Some big Democratic donors had even been withholding their funds.
Although Biden stated for many weeks that he wouldn’t be dropping out, ultimately he has been persuaded to do just that.
The question now is: who will the Democrats select for their presidential and vice-presidential nominees?
