Pregnant Mississippi Teacher Loses Her Baby In A Hit And Run Crash

A Mississippi woman lost her baby Saturday after she left her baby shower and was struck by a drunk driver.
According to reports Mashayla Harper,24 was 8 months pregnant attending her baby shower Saturday in Soso, Ms when she left and was struck by a drunk driver.
A 24 year old hunter found Harper bleeding on the side of the road and called for help.
Once emergency crews arrived Harper was transported to Forrest General Hospital in critical condition and is now recovering from trauma to the head, a broken leg and damage to her abdomen.
Her baby girl did not survive the crash and was due February 11.
The drunk driver James Gilbert,33 was later arrested and is being held at the Jones County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond and faces charges of fleeing the scene and causing a death, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and leaving the scene causing injuries.
