On Friday, it was announced that the “world’s largest lotto prize ever offered” will be at stake in Saturday’s Powerball drawing. The estimated jackpot prize is now $1.6 billion.
The jackpot “breaks the world record for the Largest National Lottery Jackpot in the Guinness World Records.” It has a lump-sum option of $782.4 million.
Saturday’s drawing will occur at 9:59 CST, at the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee. This will be the 40th Powerball drawing since there was a winner on August 3, in Pennsylvania.
It has also been noted that if there is no winner in the drawing, it will set a tie for the number of consecutive drawings that hasn’t led to a winner.
Powerball tickets can be purchased for $2 each play and are available in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
