50-year-old William Jones, the police chief in Louisiana, Missouri, has been charged with felony drug crimes. This comes after his girlfriend’s brother was discovered deceased from an apparent overdose in Jones’s residence.

On Wednesday, Jones was charged with second-degree drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with evidence. He was placed in jail on a $150,000 cash-only bond.

Alexis Thone, the 25-year-old girlfriend of Jones, is also facing charges of second-degree drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. Her cash-only bond was set at $100,000.

On Tuesday, close to 10 p.m., the off-duty officer had called police to report that someone had died at the residence where Jones and Thone lived. First responders later discovered 24-year-old Gabriel Thone deceased.

Gabriel was Alexis’s brother. Her other brother, a 21-year-old, was also in the home and was experiencing respiratory distress. However, he was revived with naloxone, a drug that reverses opioid overdoses.

On Wednesday afternoon, Jones was taken into custody during a traffic stop.

There is no information on whether he is still the police chief of the small town.
