On Tuesday evening, Houston authorities and fire department personnel answered a call to the Houston residence of Sen. Ted Cruz.

Officers had received information about a 14-year-old with self-inflicted stabs injuries on the arms, in the well-known River Oaks community. This was close to 8 p.m., and police could be seen on the front lawn of Cruz’s residence.

The teen was transported to a medical facility.

Authorities couldn’t confirm if the call was related to anyone of Cruz’s relatives. The Texas elected official has two daughters.

A spokesperson for Sen. Cruz disclosed that the police involvement was a part of a family issue. When questioned about the senator’s daughter, they said that she was fine, and there was no serious harm.
