Police Arrest Wanted Suspect, Leonard Neal, For The Kidnapping of A 7 Year Old Dallas Girl

A Dallas man wanted for kidnapping a 7 year old girl in June and sparking an Amber Alert is now in police custody.

According to authorities 41 year old Leonard Lamar Neal was arrested Friday after witnesses spotted him on a DART bus near South Polk Street and West Camp Wisdom Road.

When authorities arrived to the location to arrest Neal he slit his throat. First responders transported him to Methodist Dallas with his condition unknown.

On June 11, two children ages 9 and 7 left their Dallas apartment around noon on the 1500 block of Argentia Drive. While walking Neal picked the two children up and took them to a nearby corner store.

As the 9 year old was walking to the door he saw Neal drive away in the car with the 7 year old. Police were called and an Amber Alert was issued that evening around 6:45 for the 7 year old.

On June 14, the young girl was found wandering around Argentina Drive around 12:40 am. She was taken to an area hospital to be checked out.

Neal is being charged with aggravated kidnapping, kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault of a child.
