Plano Man Sentenced To 40 Years In Prison For Methamphetamine Dealing After Seven Previous Convictions
40-year-old Dominic Rivera, of Plano, Texas, has received a 40-year prison sentence. This comes after a jury found him guilty of possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine, a first-degree felony.
Rivera had been convicted of seven previous felonies and had continued his drug-related activities in Collin County only eight months subsequent to his parole ending in Dallas County.
On November 15, 2022, Rivera was pulled over in Richardson. He had been closely holding a backpack between his chest and legs, causing the officers to become suspicious. A search showed that Rivera had a firearm in his pocket. After pulling up his extensive criminal record, Rivera was apprehended for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
Also found in the vehicle was a loaded magazine for a gun, several empty baggies, marijuana packaged for distribution, and a glass container with about 22 grams of methamphetamine, all in Rivera’s backpack.
Records show that Rivera’s criminal past goes back to 2012 when he was convicted of four drug charges in Collin County. He was then given an 8-year prison sentence for that and two other charges.
Then, in 2019, Rivera was given probation for second-degree felony possession of methamphetamine. But, his probation was revoked for possession of a controlled substance, almost a month later. In February 2020, he was sentence to three more years in prison.
Because of Rivera’s seven felony convictions and the details of the new offense, Rivera has now been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
