On Monday, a piano teacher in Santa Ana, California, was found guilty of molesting eight girls over the course of 18 years. A ninth witness also testified at the trial.

Altogether, John Mordecai Scott, 65, was said to have molested 11 girls. However, one girl didn’t want to be a part of the trial, and charges connected to another victim were dropped.

Scott had been out on bail while the trial was taking place. He was placed back in custody once the verdict was read.

Scott will receive his punishment on May 13. He was convicted on 26 sex-related offenses and may receive 111 years to life in prison.

1996 is when the first incident is said to have happened. The victim stated that Scott told her not to tell her parents. In 2002, the girl finally said something when she went to contact his ex-employer, Music Makers. However, Scott was no longer employed there.

Another victim said that in 2002-2007, Scott would find opportunities, and it started with tickling when she was receiving piano lessons in her home.

In 2006, he was almost busted after stopping a 17-year-old girl on a street to offer her money to model for photos. Two officers observed and questioned Scott. He stated that he thought the girl was 18 . No charges were filed.

Scott is said to have provided piano services for individuals from 5- to 80 years old for many years.
