A person of interest was arrested on Monday in Pennsylvania regarding the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
The suspect, 26-year-old Luigi Mangione, was taken into custody in Altoona on firearm-related charges. Authorities discovered a gun, a mask, and a fake ID card in his possession, which are thought to be connected to Thompson’s murder.
New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that handwritten notes found with Mangione “reflect his motivation and mindset.”
Mangione was reportedly traveling on a bus when he disembarked to buy food. He was recognized by an employee at a McDonald’s, who then alerted the police.
No charges have been filed at this time. This is a developing story.
