PayPal spokesman claims ““We do not allow PayPal services to be used to promote hate, violence, or other forms of intolerance that are discriminatory,”
Yet the company based out of San Jose was allowing a Klu Klux Klan fundraising account used by the “Loyal White Knights” to fundraise white supremacist organizations.
It wasn’t until Nandini Jammi of social media activism organization Sleeping Giants tweeted on Aug. 24. “@AskPayPal can you explain this?”
The Loyal White Knights of the Klu Klux Klan created a “Donate Now” link that takes supporters directly to PayPal. The donations are used to fund postage and materials to organize rallies. This is where Jammi’s issue lies.
PayPal has since suspended this account but after investigation by the British new outlet, it took PayPal six days to suspend the account after it had been flagged by social media activists..
PayPal has stated they cannot comment on specific customer’s account “due to our legal and data protection obligations,” but said “we carefully review accounts to ensure our services are used in line with our acceptable use policy and take action as appropriate.”
