The 53-year-old father of Patrick Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes Sr., was arrested and placed in the Smith County Jail, in Tyler, Texas, on Saturday night.

The father of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has been charged with DWI for the third time or more, documents show. His bond was set at $10,000.

Back in 2018, Mahomes Sr. had been charged with a DWI offense. He had pled guilty and was placed in county jail for 40 days.

Prior to that, the former athlete had been charged after being involved in a one-car accident in 1994.

Additionally, in 2016, Mahomes Sr. was apprehended and charged with Public Intoxication as a game took place between Texas Christian University (TCU) and Texas Tech, where his son attended.

His recent arrest comes just days before his son’s Super Bowl LVII game against the San Francisco 49ers.

From 1992 to 2003, Mahomes Sr. was a MLB pitcher, playing for various teams such as the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

At this time, he is the host of “The Big Mahomes Show,” a weekly podcast that discusses all things dealing with sports.
